African Youth Panel
Program
Empowering young people to shape inclusive, secure, and sustainable futures
The African Youth Panel (AYP) is a bold participatory action research initiative launched to tackle one of Africa’s most pressing challenges — the lack of dignified and fulfilling work for its growing youth population.
Backed by a dynamic partnership between TrustAfrica and the Mastercard Foundation, AYP is giving 200 young changemakers (73% women, 67% from rural areas, 10.5% persons living with disabilities, 89% persons with no tertiary level education) across 10 African countries the tools, voice, and platform to reimagine the future of work — on their terms, in their communities, and for their generation.
Countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe.

Africa Skills Hub (ASH) serves as the Anchor Institution, leading the implementation of the initiative in Ghana.
Our role includes:
- Training and mentoring youth researchers
- Upholding safeguarding and ethical standards
- Driving inclusive community engagement
- Overseeing effective program delivery
A Youth-Led Movement
The AYP is a growing movement of young changemakers, allies, and partners working to unlock the potential of Africa’s youth. AYP uses participatory action research and community mobilization to reshape narratives, influence policy, and co-create solutions that advance dignity, equality, and inclusion.
