SGBV and Post-Covid Innovation Forum

In partnership with Canada World Youth and Global Affairs Canada, Africa Skills Hub is implementing the Women’s Entrepreneurship and livelihoods Initiative (WELI) across Ghana (in the Volta and Northern regions). The initiative deploys a gender-responsive economic empowerment approach in addressing the increasing vulnerabilities that rural young women in Ghana and Senegal continue to face as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of our learning, sharing and advocacy approach on the WELI project, Africa Skills Hub wishes to organize the SGBV and Post-COVID Innovation Forum in partnership with Ghana United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on the theme “Addressing Gender-Based Violence through the rise of innovations in post-Covid Ghana”.

The purpose of the event is to bring together relevant stakeholders to hold SGBV dialogues and panel discussions to address issues on gender equality and the rise of opportunities for women post-covid-19. The event will share the learnings from both UNFPA and ASH’s unique approach in addressing this.  As the world’s major donors pledge 40 billion to gender equality, it is imperative that SGBV programming approaches are reviewed and new ways of financing for this sector explored. That is if ever we are to see the end of inequalities faced by women in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Additionally, the event will provide an overview of our research report on “The Impact of COVID-19 on Gender Equality: Women’s Empowerment and the rise of new opportunities through business and innovations” which will be officially launched on the day.

The SGBV and Post-COVID Innovation Forum will be a day’s event held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on October 27, 2021, from 10 AM to 12 NOON
